1) there isn’t a direct bus. You need to change in Fontebecci or Siena.
2) To move from Castellina in Chianti to Fontebecci or Siena you need line 125 of Tiemme.

3) In Castellina in Chianti you can buy tickets in TABACCHERIA PIATTELLINI VIA FERRUCCIO,1 And BAR SANGALLO VIA TRENTO E TRIESTE, 58. The bus stop is in the crossroad between Via Fiorentina, Via Trento e Trieste, Strada stradale di Val d’Elsa and Via Chiantigiana.

By train:
1) No, there isn’t a direct train. You can buy the tickets on trenitalia site or buy chilometric tickets at bar, tabacconist and newsagents. I suggest you to use the english version of the trenitalia site. This is an example to reserch:

1) bus stop in Siena is more central than the train station;
2) Firenze Siena Rapida have “Feriale” and “Festivo” timetables: Feriale is monday-saturday and Festivo is sunday and holidays. Pay attention to the notes in the upper part.
3) You can buy tickets on board with a surcharge. I suggest you to buy the tickets in advance. You have to buy two single tickets.
4) 131R R (R as Rapida, R as ritorno) – Firenze-Siena. The air should be conditioned.

To reach Volterra from Firenze you have to change bus in Colle Val d’Elsa.

Sita line 1310 Firenze-Colle Val d’Elsa:
Siena -> Firenze
Firenze -> Siena

Line Cpt 770 Volterra <-> Colle Val D’Elsa:
Festivo (holiday)
Feriale (weekday)

Tickets are available at ticket offices of bus station, train station, cafe, newsagents and tobacconists.

1) the cost is approximate in a range 6-8 euro. From the available information, there are no discounts for non-European students;
2) direction is written on the bus;
3) the bus station is outside the railway station.
