According to this timetable, the only buses leave Atrani to Naples in the early morning. Are there no other departures? The return from Naples has several options.

You’re correct in observing that direct SITA Sud buses from Atrani to Naples are limited to early morning departures. According to the current timetable for Line 5020 (Amalfi–Naples), the only departures from Atrani are at 05:50 and 06:25 on weekdays .

However, there are alternative routes you can consider:

      🚍 Option 1: Atrani → Salerno → Naples
SITA Sud operates frequent buses from Atrani to Salerno throughout the day. From Salerno, you can catch a SITA Sud Line 5001 bus to Naples, which runs regularly during the day .

      Steps:

Atrani to Salerno: Board a SITA Sud bus from Atrani to Salerno. Buses run frequently; for instance, departures from Atrani occur at 05:35, 05:55, 06:15, 07:05, 07:30, 08:10, 08:40, 08:50, 09:10, 10:10, and continue throughout the day .

Salerno to Naples: From Salerno, take the SITA Sud Line 5001 bus to Naples. This line passes through Vietri sul Mare, Cava de’ Tirreni, Nocera Superiore, Nocera Inferiore, Angri, Scafati, and Pompei before reaching Naples .

      🚍 Option 2: Atrani → Amalfi → Agerola → Naples
Another route involves traveling from Atrani to Amalfi, then to Agerola, and finally to Naples via SITA Sud Line 5080. This line offers multiple departures throughout the day .

      Steps:

Atrani to Amalfi: Take a short bus ride from Atrani to Amalfi.

Amalfi to Agerola: From Amalfi, board a bus to Agerola (Bomerano or S. Maria).

Agerola to Naples: From Agerola, catch the Line 5080 bus to Naples. Departures from Agerola (Bomerano) to Naples are available at various times, including 06:15, 07:15, 08:45, 10:40, 12:10, 14:10, 16:10, 18:10, 19:40, 20:40, and 22:40 .

      ⛴️ Alternative: Ferry Services
During the tourist season (April to October), ferry services operate along the Amalfi Coast. You can take a ferry from Amalfi to Salerno and then proceed to Naples by train or bus. Ferries offer a scenic and pleasant alternative to bus travel.
